Yardi clients accounted for nearly a third of the recipients of the Asia Pacific Best of the Breeds REITs Awards 2017, which recognize companies and managers that display the highest standards and performance among real estate investment trusts in the Asia Pacific region.

MRCB Quill REIT of Malaysia won an award in the office REIT category. YTL Starhill Global REIT Mgmt Ltd of Singapore and Sunway REIT of Malaysia each earned an award in the retail REIT category. Singapore companies Viva Industrial Trust and Cache Logistics Trust earned awards in the industrial REIT category, as did Malaysia’s Axis REIT. Ascendas Hospitality Trust of Singapore collected an award in the hospitality REIT category.

“REITs hold many benefits to the overall economic development of a country, especially for developing economies like China and India where REITs free up capital for real estate and infrastructure, attracting long-term investors such as sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and insurance companies. The Asia Pacific Best of the Breeds REITs Awards is a coveted award to recognize companies and managers with the highest standards and performance in the Asia Pacific REITs sector,” REITs Asia Pacific said in a press release.

“REITs are becoming increasingly important in Asia as a resilient investment instrument and are certain to spread to new markets in the region,” said Neal Gemassmer, vice president of international for Yardi. “We’re proud that so many winners of the highly selective Asia Pacific Best of the Breeds REITs Awards use Yardi as their platform for improving internal efficiency and delivering outstanding investor service.”

The Asia Pacific Best of the Breeds REITs Awards were handed out in Singapore during the recent 4th REITs Asia Pacific Conference 2017, a gathering of developers, banks, institutional investors, fund and REIT managers, lawyers, government representatives and other real estate professionals focused on the potential of REITs as an engine of economic growth in Asia. Only 22 REITs in Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong earned Best of the Breeds REITs Awards. Criteria for the awards included credit ratings, market cap, yield, quality of management, year-to-date returns and distribution per unit.
